Camerawhores at Pier 39. These celebrity seals apparently colonised the pier after the (not-so) great earthquakes in 1909. The locals voted to let them stay, and the seals stay on pier 39 became a seasonal event, with them migrating away during winter. Apparently however as time passed they became lazier and lazier, and now no longer go north for the winter but continue to bum around in the sun posing for camera-crazed photo-junkie tourists.
