A mockup of the original mission town before the rest of it was dismantled after acquisition by the mexicans, and fell into decay. The quadrangle apparently became a bullfighting arena. Today, only the chapel/cathedral remains. The bright white flash top right is the sun in miniature. Honest. Okay, so it's a reflection off the plastic walls of the case - it was hard enough to limit the flash to this area of the photo and involved a lot of painstaking body positioning to block out reflections of the tourists and sunlit quadrangle behind me. Along the way, I accidentally dropped my walkman audio tour and broke it. Fortunately the nice woman gave me another one at no charge. Yanks. Lovely people, really.
